Water Resource Withdrawal

Taiwan is a country lacking water resources due to natural conditions. Especially, the river monitoring data of the Environmental Protection Administration shows increasingly worse river pollution that makes many rivers unusable due to bad water quality, and thus the more deficient water resources. Consequently, groundwater is over-pumped everywhere for a long time and this overdraft brings about a serious problem of land subsidence. We are much concerned about the environmental problem of groundwater overdraft and, thus, only use the tap water that Taiwan Water Corporation provides. The source of the tap water is the Liyutan Reservoir in Miaoli. CHR is located in Changhua Coastal Industrial Park, Changhua County. As the official website of the industrial park shows, the Liyutan Reservoir supplies about 700 million liters (700 thousand tons) of water every day, and 15 million liters (15 thousand tons) are supplied to Changhua Coastal Industrial Park. The average daily water consumption of the industrial park occupies 2% of the daily water supply of the reservoir. CHR’s average daily water consumption in the recent three years takes up 1% of the water supply of Changhua Coastal Industrial Park. The average daily water consumption only takes up 0.02% of the daily water supply of the reservoir. The water intake and the water intake volume have no prominent negative impact on the Liyutan Reservoir and nearby residents.

Sewage Discharge

          If the sewage produced during the process is discharged into rivers without treatment, this will cause a serious impact on the environment and may be harmful to the habitat of creatures, environment and food chain. The best way to protect the environment is to reduce the pollutant and emission at the source to avoid pollution of the environment. We are located in the Changhua Coastal Industrial Park, Changhua County, and only produce domestic sewage. Since no process wastewater is produced, There is no need to set up wastewater treatment facilities. All the wastewater is collected to the wastewater treatment plant of the industrial park through enclosed pipes. The collected wastewater undergoes physical and aerobic treatments and then is discharged through the Lunwei Channel to ensure that the quality of the discharged water meets the requirements of the effluent standard.

          According to the data provided by the wastewater treatment plant of Changhua Coastal Industrial Park, Changhua County, our COD (Chemical Oxygen Demand) and the SS (Suspended Solid) values in 2018 to 2022 complied with the management standards. Since the wastewater treatment plant of the industrial park does not incorporate BOD (Biochemical Oxygen Demand) in the test, it is not indicated in the table. In addition, the wastewater and sewage produced by CHR enters the sewage system. The water discharged from the wastewater treatment plant in the Changhua Coastal Industrial Park contained 25-45 mg/L of COD, 5-10 mg/L of SS, and 4-12 mg/L of BOD. All the values were well below the threshold specified by the effluent standards. The wastewater discharged from our factories was currently not reused by other organizations.
