Occupation Safety and Health Management System and Committee
Occupational health and safety management system has been set up in Factory 1 and Factory 2. The effective operation of the system has been maintained, and the system was constantly improved and optimized. The construction of Factory 3 has just finished. The management survey of Factory 1 and 2 has been planned to be gradually introduced to Factory 3 and put into operation. The attention to the occupational safety does not differ because of the nationality of the workers. Educational training for occupational safety and proper protective gear have been provided according to laws. The Company has also asked the contractors to announce and explain the danger of the on-site construction, and additionally required that relevant operations align with the Occupational Safety and Health Act.

Occupational Safety and Health Management Measures

Employee Health Management
According to the requirements of ISO 45001 Occupational Safety and Health Management System, CHR has carried out the hazard identification and risk assessment for the whole factory areas, and the result shows that CHR has a high-risk working environment of dust environment and ethanol environment. We have conducted solutions according to the occupational safety and health regulations by providing employees with regular physical examination and personal protection equipment. We do everything we can for the health of our employees to prevent any employee from being physically harmed at work and any infringement of worker rights. In addition, where an employee encounters danger during the educational training, he or she has the right of withdrawal as per Article 18 of the Occupational Safety and Health Act. After withdrawing to a safe location, the employee shall report to the manager in charge of the operation.

Health is a lifelong matter. People should maintain good health no matter for their family or themselves. Viewing the employees as CHR’s family members, we provide regular physical examination every year and upgrade the process to detailed examinations to look after our employees’ health. The total value of the physical examination content is three times higher than the statutory minimum value. The total results of the physical examination show that the overall health of the employees is well-maintained. There is no injury directly caused by the working environment. We have commissioned a health consulting company to classify the employees’ health, assist them, and establish a health care service record for all employees in accordance with the Occupational Safety and Health Act. The record is only used to assess whether the employees are in a safe operating environment and shall not be used for other purposes. Further, it shall be kept in confidence by the Labor Safety Office. For non-employee workers, we inform the contractors that they have to conduct health check-ups or special health check-ups for their employees in accordance with the Occupational Safety and Health Act. Only when we visit the meal supplier to check the hygiene condition on-site, we will directly require the supplier to provide evidence that their employees have undergone the checkups.
Women’s Health Protection
“Mother’s Health Protection Program for Operation” has been established according to the Occupational Safety and Health Act, and a mother’s health hazard assessment is provided for the assessed person to fill out so that protection can be given by allocating appropriate work based on the assessment. To fully create a happy workplace with a friendly environment, the Company has established lactation rooms to provide a private and warm space for nursing mothers. In addition, the Company and the Employee Welfare Committee has also entered into a contract with the quality childcare institution nearby for discounts. The employees can apply for parental leave without pay according to the Act of Gender Equality in Employment and the regulations in the employee handbook. During the parental leave without pay, the labor and health insurances can still be paid through the Company.
Health Promotion in the Workplace
In 2021, the Gym and Audio-visual Activity Center was launched. Through the introduction of on-site medical services, we began to promote workplace health plans and arrange health promotion lectures. In 2022, we held the “Lose Fat, Enjoy Getting Thin, & Get Healthy Together” event that lasted for three months. Through fat loss and muscle building activities, we assisted our employees in controlling their body fat, weight, and body image as well as cultivating good exercise and eating habits. Prior to the start of the event, body mass measurement was conducted and the lecture course “Things you should know about muscle building and fat loss” was planned. We invited employees to participate these activities together. A total of 28 employees participated in the activities, totaling 1,215 visits to the gym, 18.15kg of weight lost, and a reduction of 32.20% in body fat.
