Energy Management
The greenhouse effect leads to aggravation of the extreme climate and climate change continues to be an issue that people are concerned about. Hence, implementation of energy conservation and carbon reduction is a no regret policy and it is also the most important part in the promotion of a green environment and the vision of sustainability for an enterprise. We have been aware of the importance of energy management as well as energy saving and carbon reduction, and thus we use the ISO 50001 energy management system to improve energy performance on a continuous basis.
CHR has the cross-department Energy Management Promotion Committee with the Chairman being the Commissioner. Meanwhile, we set up environmental, safety, health and energy policies and also plan and implement energy targets and energy conservation plans annually. We improve the AC system, air compressor, process equipment, and other energy consuming facilities step by step. With systematic methods and daily energy management, energy performance is consistently improved. In addition, this is beneficial to the reduction of energy costs and GHG emissions.

Energy Type

The energy types that CHR uses include purchased electricity, diesel, and gasoline. Diesel and gasoline are mainly used for vehicles, machines, and emergency generators, and the purchased electricity is used for other manufacturing equipment. The energy utilization is very simple in terms of its types. In 2022, the consumption 11,181,560° kwh/year (accounting for 95% of the total energy consumption); the consumption of diesel was 26.1 kl/year (accounting for 2% of the total energy consumption); the consumption of gasoline was 34 kl/year (accounting for 3% of the total energy consumption). After conversion, the total energy consumption was 42,283 GJ/year.
Energy Intensity
The energy intensity in 2022 dropped by 0.3% in comparison with 2020 thanks to the persistent promotion of energy conservation action plans from 2020 to 2022. If the power consumption of overall public and auxiliary facilities remains unchanged, when production quantity decreases and products cannot be produced at full capacity, energy intensity will increase. Hence, the energy intensity in 2022 was 6% higher than that in 2021. With 2020 as the base year, we persistently carry out electricity conservation action plans, including separation of light and power supply switches, installation of automatic switching devices for water chillers and replacement of energy-saving equipment, to reduce energy intensity and aim at having the energy intensity in 2024 reduced by 5%.
